Egypt hosts more than Million registered refugees and asylum seekers from 58 different nationalities.

As of October 2023, Sudanese nationality has become the largest, followed by Syrian nationality, followed by smaller numbers from South Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Yemen, Somalia, and Iraq. This number requires finding a livelihood, which is dependent on their skills and qualifications.

With this in mind, UNESCO has allocated support to refugees through a training and rehabilitation project to provide job opportunities or establish small projects that contribute to improving living conditions. This is achieved by designing a series of training packages that develop their skills and build their capacities (specialized skills and personal skills).

A plan has already been developed to target 1,200 foreign refugees of various nationalities (Sudan, Ethiopia, Syria, Somalia, Eritrea, Yemen, and Iraq) to improve their living conditions. The project was entrusted to the Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Green Line Consulting. Through this plan, a training and qualification plan was implemented, and guidance was provided in the following fields: digital marketing, customer service, English language, computer maintenance, graphic design, ready-made garment manufacturing, and leather manufacturing.

These programs are currently being implemented, and a follow-up and feasibility study have also been conducted on these projects.
